EIGHT top food and drink producers from Laois have reached the finals of the 2026 Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards, widely known as the food Oscars.

The countdown is officially on for the return to Dingle of Ireland’s most prestigious food awards this autumn, where the very best of Irish food and drink will be celebrated from Thursday 1 October to Sunday 4 October featuring the Blas Village, Showcase, Eat Ireland in a Day market and the awards ceremony.

The finalists shortlisted from Laois are across a wide range of categories and many are previous award winners. They are Abbey Farm Foods, G's Gourmet Jams Ltd., Aghaboe Farm Foods, Ballyrider House Granola, First Ireland Spirits, Mueller O'Connell Bakery, Temptation Chocolates Boutique, The Village Dairy and Zephyr Yard.

Praising the recognition of local producers in the nominations, Laois Co Council’s Head of Enterprise Lisa Molloy said. "We are incredibly proud to see Laois businesses recognised among the finalists in this year's Blas na hÉireann awards. These producers represent the very best of Irish food and drink, combining quality, innovation and a strong commitment to their craft.

“Their success reflects the strength and ambition of the food sector in Laois and reinforces the county's growing reputation as a hub for exceptional food production. On behalf of Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Laois, I would like to congratulate all finalists and wish them every success in the awards."

This year’s Blas na hÉireann weekend will see the return of the hugely popular Eat Ireland in a Day market and the Blas Village, where 2026 finalists can showcase their products, connect with buyers and meet with fellow producers, media and food lovers from across the country.

Continuing the focus on education and collaboration, The Backyard at Blas, which brings together speakers and fellow producers to share their knowledge and network, will return this year as an integral part of the Blas experience.

Now in its 19th year, Blas na hÉireann continues to grow, with more than 3,000 entries submitted from across the island and a record number of new producers taking part.

Additionally, the number of food and drink categories increased from 170 to over 200 this year. Bronze, silver and gold awards will be presented across the various food and drink categories.

The judging, which took place over June and July in partnership with UCC and TU Dublin, is blind-tasted and scored by a network of expert judges, including chefs, buyers, academics, restaurateurs, and industry leaders.
