Booth has supplied the construction market in Ireland for over 25 years from its headquarters in Laois

BREEDON Group plc, a vertically integrated construction materials group with bases in Great Britain, Ireland and the United States, announced on 24 December that it has reached an agreement to acquire Booth Precast Products Limited, a regional quarrying and concrete business based in Laois.

Booth has supplied the construction market in Ireland for over 25 years from its headquarters in Laois, building a notable reputation for sustainability and customer service.

The acquisition is expected to deliver on Breedon’s strategy, securing scarce mineral reserves to supply the Dublin market and increasing vertical integration in Ireland.

Completion of the acquisition is expected in H1 2026, between January and June, and is subject to Irish competition approval.

Declan Carr, CEO of Breedon Ireland said: “We look forward to completing this transaction and welcoming the Booth team into Breedon as we continue to invest in strengthening our operations and delivering a high-quality service for our customers.

“This acquisition will help deliver our strategy, providing us with a valuable source of aggregates to supply the Dublin market and further expands our concrete business.” Data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) found that the construction sector was worth €14.3 billion to the Irish economy in 2024. Its largest subsector was electrical, plumbing and other installation activities, accounting for 28 per cent of the total gross value added.

The data shows that construction of residential and non-residential buildings accounted for 27 per cent. According to the data, more than six per cent of all people employed in Ireland worked in the construction sector in 2024, below the EU average of seven per cent.
