Laois pub shut since Covid to get a major revamp

The village pub is to undergo major renovations
A TEMPORARY transfer of the liquor licence on Poole’s Tavern in Rosenallis was approved when an application came before Portlaoise District Court last week.
Solicitor Vincent Garty told Judge Susan Fay that the three owners of the tavern had nominated Martin Poole to make the application. He said the transfer of the licence was necessary to finalise the sale of the property to its new owners.
Mr Garty said the tavern had not traded since Covid five years ago and the company, Poole’s Tavern Ltd, was wound up voluntarily last July.
He said that, when operational, the tavern, which was the only licensed premises in the village, “was a hub in the community”.
Mr Garty said the prospective owners “will be carrying out major renovations”.
Sergeant JJ Kirby said there were no garda objections to the licence being transferred.
