PEOPLE of Laois and Offaly are being asked to vote for their favourite public toilet as part of Dyno-Rod’s 'SuperLoo' campaign.
Drainage and blockage specialists Dyno-Rod are set to scour the country this summer to find Ireland’s next SuperLoo and are urging owners of laudable lavatories to enter the nationwide competition that will see one publicly usable loo take the national title.
The company is asking members of the public to help them flush out Ireland’s destination dunnies by encouraging businesses of every size and shape to get involved in the country’s oldest restroom race.
The competition started in 1992 when the title was won by Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan. Now, over three decades later, the SuperLoo competition returns to crown a new champion of Irish bathroom excellence.
This is not a competition for “posh potties”, the company said in a statement: “It’s a celebration of WCs with character, charm, practicality and high standards. It’s about loos in every setting - from cafés, cinemas and clubs to garages, offices and libraries - that customers will remember for the right reasons”.
Dyno-Rod was founded over 50 years ago by Chairman Peter Crowley, who created the original SuperLoo competition. “At Dyno-Rod”, he said, “we believe toilets are one of the great unspoken yardsticks of customer experience. A good loo tells people your business cares. A bad one tells them you don’t.
“SuperLoo was created to celebrate the businesses across Ireland that take genuine pride in maintaining clean, comfortable, accessible and well-kept public facilities. For decades, Dyno-Rod has worked behind the scenes helping businesses maintain the facilities their customers rely on every single day. SuperLoo is a chance for businesses to showcase their standards at a national level.”
Businesses can nominate their bathrooms at superloo.ie and these will be judged on the following criteria: Cleanliness, comfort, accessibility, style and character, smell and ventilation, hand drying facilities, hygiene products provided, ease of maintenance, cleaning standards, toilet paper ply level, toilet paper holder positioning, and overall customer experience.
Adjudicators will shortlist ten entries to face a public vote to decide the destination of the 2026 SuperLoo title. Closing date for applications is Friday 17th July 2026.
