Storm Éowyn Update – Laois
Laois still under Red Weather Warning
AS Storm Éowyn continues to wreak havoc across the county, Laois County Council reported at 8am this morning (Friday) that there are multiple trees down and multiple power outages right across the county this morning as the Status Red Wind warning remains in place until 11am.
The N80, the R428 at Castlemitchell and the R422 at Killen are impassable because of downed trees and electric wires.

Emergency calls should be directed to 999 or 112, in the normal way.
ESB Networks is advising anyone who must travel this morning that of they see or know of damaged lines along the network to not touch or go near them. Instead phone it immediately on 1800 372 999.

The council is asking the public to continue to shelter in place and not to travel out unless it’s absolutely necessary, even when the red warning expires.
