Passenger numbers to top half a million at Dublin Airport

More than 527,000 passengers are expected to arrive and depart through Dublin Airport over the four-day August bank holiday weekend, making it one of the busiest weekends of the summer.

Passenger numbers are expected to exceed 134,000 on Friday, July 31st, with 129,000 travelling on Saturday, August 1st. Sunday, August 2nd, will be the busiest day of the weekend, with 136,000 passengers forecast to pass through the airport, before a further 128,000 passengers travel on the bank holiday Monday, August 3rd.

The August bank holiday marks one of the final major getaway weekends before the end of the summer holiday season, with strong demand for flights to and from destinations across Europe, North America and beyond.

Dublin Airport is advising passengers to prepare for a busy airport by arriving in good time for their flight and checking directly with their airline for the latest information regarding check-in and boarding times.

Graeme McQueen, spokesperson for Dublin Airport, said: "Our teams across the airport are ready to ensure passengers enjoy a smooth and efficient journey through the airport. As always, we'd recommend arriving at the airport two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul departure."

Passengers are reminded that they no longer need to take liquids - which can now be in containers of up to 2 litres - or electronics out of their bags at security screening.
