Police are to step up patrols after an email was sent to a number of schools and businesses in Co Antrim.

The PSNI said it will be engaging with those affected.

A spokesperson said: “Police received reports today, Tuesday May 19, of an email having been sent to multiple schools and businesses in the County Antrim area.

“Officers are investigating the contents included within this email, and are conducting a number of inquiries.

“Reassurance patrols have also been increased in the areas affected, in order help keep our communities safe.

“We would urge anyone to report anything suspicious to police on our 101 number, always 999 in an emergency.”
