Eva Mendes reacts to Ryan Gosling’s new MCU role as Ghost Rider

Eva Mendes has endorsed her husband Ryan Gosling’s upcoming role as Ghost Rider in a new film based on the character.
The actor, 45, will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the upcoming project, which will be released in 2028.
Mendes, 52, also has a connection to the character as she starred in the 2007 superhero film of the same name with Nicolas Cage in the main role.
The actress played Ghost Rider’s love interest, Roxanne Simpson.
Mendes shared a fan video made to promote Gosling’s involvement in the upcoming Ghost Rider film.
Referencing her role in the 2007 movie, she captioned the Instagram clip: “Love, Roxy.”
Gosling’s new role was announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday.
The actor said it is a character he has “wanted to play for a very long time”.
Ghost Rider is the anti-hero identity of motorcycle stuntman Johnny Blaze.
In the comics, Blaze’s story begins when he becomes bound to the Spirit of Vengeance, Zarathos, after making a deal with the villain Mephisto to spare his surrogate father, giving him supernatural powers.
The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, who also helmed Deadpool & Wolverine and is working with Gosling on the space opera, Star Wars: Starfighter, due for release in 2027.
Mendes has been in a relationship with Gosling since 2011 and referred to him as her “husband” in 2022.
The couple are parents to daughters Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 10.
Mendes largely retired from acting after the 2014 film Lost River, citing a dissatisfaction with the roles she was being offered and a desire to be at home with her children.
Her only acting role since was a voice part in an episode of the animated series Bluey in 2021.
Speaking to Variety in 2022, she said: “There are more opportunities for Latina actresses now, but when I bowed out 10 years ago I wasn’t being offered things that weren’t specifically Latina.
“It is exciting that things are different now, so who knows what I will do in the future? But right now, I’m keeping it in the home with my kids.”
