Ryan Reynolds walked the floor at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday as he took photos with fans while dressed as Deadpool.

The actor, 49, who first played the character in the eponymous 2016 film, marked its 10th anniversary by appearing at the annual fan convention.

The film star shared a video of himself in a hotel room with his Deadpool costume laid out on the bed.

He was then seen in costume, strolling through the main floor at the San Diego Convention Centre.

Reynolds took photos with several fans, who were all unaware that it was him underneath the costume.

In a caption on Instagram, he wrote: “The fans got Deadpool off the ground so many years ago.

“Yesterday, 10 years after the first film and exactly 2 years after Deadpool & Wolverine, I felt so lucky to be on the #SDCC floor with everyone whose unapologetic devotion brings so much joy to this world.

“No handlers, no security, no ropes. WHAT A GIFT.

“Thanks to everyone I met, who aren’t only cosplaying but world-building. And also… actual Sergeant Slaughter!”

Later, Reynolds asked for a role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday before Robert Downey Jr, who stars as Doctor Doom, told him it had already been filmed.

Appearing from the crowd, Reynolds said: “This seems an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When do you start filming?”

To which Downey Jr, surrounded by the rest of the film’s cast on stage, replied: “It’s in the can bro, look around you, did you bump your head?”

Despite Deadpool not being listed to appear in the upcoming film, there have been rumours that Reynolds’ character will have a role.

The trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was released on Monday July 20 showing Downey Jr, who played Iron Man in 10 previous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, as Doctor Doom.

The film is a sequel to 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and is the 39th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reynolds has appeared as Deadpool in three feature films so far, with his most recent appearance being Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.
