The Love Hungry Farmer Brings Big Laughs and Bigger Longing to the Dunamaise Stage
The Love Hungry Farmer
A hilarious and heartfelt one-man show, The Love Hungry Farmer tells the story of John Bosco McLaine, a man who has never lain down with a woman — yet has lived his entire life driven by romance, hope and longing.
Always the optimist, and a virgin in equal measure, John Bosco sets out on a determined and often misguided search for the ideal companion, regardless of age, failure rate, or the damning advice of others. In a small rural community where advice is plentiful and women are scarce, he follows his heart in an ultimate bid to procure himself a wife — with unpredictable and uproarious results.
Often described as the natural successor to John B. Keane as Ireland’s master storyteller, Seamus O’Rourke brings to life the wistful, blundering and deeply romantic John Bosco McLaine with warmth, wit and exquisite comic timing. The production matches Keane’s legacy stride for stride, delivering a rich tapestry of humour and humanity through beautifully crafted language and sharp observation.
The Love Hungry Farmer is an evening of laughter, love, hope and desire — a touching and uproarious celebration of rural Ireland, human vulnerability, and the universal longing to be loved.
