A 24-YEAR-OLD Laois man was before Portlaoise District Court last week charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a woman and with sexually assaulting and raping another woman.

Garda Lisa Murray gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on the accused.

Garda Sgt Kirby said the director of public prosecutions (DPP) directed that the man should be sent forward on the four charges to the present sitting of the Central Criminal Court of Justice in Dublin.

In sending the accused forward to trial, Judge Andrew Gubbins gave the defendant an alibi warning and instructed him that he must notify gardaí in writing within 14 days if he wished to rely on an alibi in his defence.

Defence solicitor Brian Duffy said there was no application for free legal aid.

Judge Gubbins remanded the accused on his own bail of €500.

Due to the nature of the offences, that allegedly took place on the same date, 12 December 2025 at a location in Laois, Judge Gubbins ordered that the identity of those involved in the alleged incident cannot be reported on.
