AN employee from Nua Health Care admitted to not taxing his car for three years.

Edward Hogan (41), Kyledellig, Rathdowney appeared before last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court where he pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and tax when stopped by gardaí on 30 July on the N80 at Maryborough, Co Laois.

Defence solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said that his client, who works as a care leader for Nua Health Care, had regulated his car insurance within a week of being stopped by gardaí.

The court was told that, when checked, gardaí found that his road tax had been out for three years and that he had one previous road traffic conviction for driving a dangerously defective vehicle.

Mr Fitzgerald said that Mr Hogan “Is very highly thought of in his job and that he needs to travel to Leitrim in the course of his work.”

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case for finalisation to the 7 May sitting of the court.
