Prisoner allegedly sexually assaulted other inmate at The Midlands Prison

A PRISONER who allegedly sexually assaulted another inmate in The Midlands Prison appeared via video link at an in-camera sitting of Portlaoise District Court last week.
The 32-year-old cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged injured party.
The man is accused of the offence that allegedly took place in the prison on 13 November last year.
Defending solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said that his client is pleading not guilty to the offence.
Judge Andrew Gubbins remanded the defendant in prison and set 23 February as the hearing date in the case.
