START your engines! The National Steam Rally 2026 was officially launched at Stradbally Woodland Railway on Saturday, 6 June. Preparations are now underway for Ireland's largest and longest-running celebration of steam and vintage heritage.
Hosted by the Irish Steam Preservation Society, the launch convened public representatives, performers, sponsors, volunteers and supporters, including Minister of State at the Department of Health Jennifer Murnane O'Connor, Seán Fleming TD, a host of country music stars including Michael English, and members of Laois County Council.

This year's National Steam Rally takes place over three days, from Saturday 1 to Monday 3 August, at Stradbally Hall, Co. Laois, with a programme of live country music to complement the rally's traditional steam and vintage attractions.
Across the three days, visitors can enjoy a star-studded country music line-up featuring Michael English, Philomena Begley, Susan McCann, Shawn Cuddy, Declan Nerney, Louise Morrissey, The Matrimony Band, Timahoe Male Choir, and more.

A cherished annual tradition for more than six decades, the National Steam Rally includes countless attractions celebrating Ireland's rich industrial and rural heritage.
This includes steam engines, vintage tractors, classic cars, commercial vehicles, road-making demonstrations, blacksmithing, craft displays, steam train rides, trade stands, children's entertainment, and vintage machinery.

Speaking at the launch, Chairperson Nigel Glynn thanked everyone who attended and acknowledged the many individuals and organisations whose support makes the event possible each year.
"We are delighted to officially launch the 62nd National Steam Rally and to welcome so many supporters here today”, he said.

“On behalf of the Irish Steam Preservation Society, I would like to thank Minister Jennifer Murnane O'Connor, TD Seán Fleming, Michael English, our sponsors, supporters, exhibitors and everyone who continues to support this great event.” Nigel gave special thanks to the Steam Rally’s volunteers: “Their dedication is remarkable. Not only do they work tirelessly to organise and deliver the National Steam Rally each year, but they also devote countless hours throughout the year to maintaining Stradbally Woodland Railway and operating the hugely popular Santa Train. Without their commitment, none of this would be possible."

Nigel also thanked the Rally's sponsors, including Arigna Fuels, whose continued support helps ensure the event's success.
