Permission sought for IPAS centre in Laois town

The premises along Mary Street in Durrow where Mr Lennon is seeking permission to convert to accommodate people seeking international protection under the IPAS Scheme

A LAOIS property owner is seeking permission to convert his premises to accommodate people seeking international protection under the IPAS Scheme.

Marc Lennon, intends to apply to Laois County Council for retention and planning permission for the development at his pub/guesthouse/hostel premises known as Peadar's Bar at Mary Street, Durrow.

The development, according to the applicant, if approved, will consist of the change of use of the existing bar on the ground floor and private accommodation on the first floor for use for accommodation on both ground floor and first floor, comprising of 10 bedrooms - eight on the ground floor and two on first floor. 

Ancillary rooms, kitchen dining area, communal living area and dining room. 

Female bathroom, two WC, two showers and two wash hand basins. Male bathroom three WC, two showers and two urinals.

In his application Mr Lennon said, if its approved, there will be one unisex bathroom on the first floor to include one toilet, shower and one wash hand basin. 

There will also a small study/communal space on the first floor, a new laundry room to the rear, covered canopy area and a store area.
