Businesses and households around Laois can expect disruption to their electricity supplies up to the end of January

BUSINESSES and households around Laois can expect disruption to their electricity supplies up to the end of January as ESB Networks conduct upgrade works in the greater Laois area.

The work involve the conversion of over 230km of the overhead network, in addition to timber cutting and the replacement of poles and transformers.

Comprising of an investment of €5.27m, the company say that the project will “strengthen the network, ensure more protection against severe weather events and overall, provide a better quality of service for all customers in the surrounding areas.”  

ESB Networks said the planned power outages to facilitate network upgrades will be scheduled in Ballybrittas, Emo, Kildangan, Killenard, Kilminchy, Vicarstown and the outskirts of both Monasterevin, Portarlington and The Heath.

“The works will take place on an area-by-area basis from now until the end of January 2025 and all customers impacted by planned outages have been or will be notified in advance via post with the time and date of the outage in their locality. Status updates and estimated restoration times of outages will be available on www.PowerCheck.ie.
