Regeneration works planned for Mountrath

LOCAL residents and business owners from Mountrath attended an information evening in Bloom HQ on proposed works to Patrick Street and the River Walk.

The event was hosted by Laois County Council’s Regeneration along with Mountrath Town Team and was part of a broader effort to create greener, more sustainable and community-friendly environments in Mountrath.

The proposed plans laid out opportunities for improving biodiversity, accessibility and amenities across the Riverwalk, Quaker Burial Ground and Patrick Street.

Laois County Council’s Town Regeneration Officer Denise Rainey said: “We were absolutely thrilled to see such a strong show of support and interest from the people of Mountrath. The conversations were thoughtful, challenging and constructive.

“The community support from Mountrath Town Team with significant investment from Mountrath Tidy Towns who will have a lead role in maintaining new landscaping and the wider community have been essential in developing and moving the plans forward.”

The next steps to implement the proposals will be to put the works out to tender with the cost then determine what works will be carried out.
