:Panic :Over Take Over Kavanaghs for a MEGA Pre-Picnic Party!

:Panic :Over

Hotpress ‘Act of the Year 2025’ :Panic :Over, are bringing their BPI‑funded “Irish You Were Here” tour to a thunderous close, with two very special shows at Kavanagh’s, Portlaoise on the 23rd and 24th of August. These free entry, pre‑Electric Picnic parties are the final dates of the tour, with fans making the pilgrimage from Bangor and beyond to celebrate the end of an unforgettable summer.

Best friends Dharesh McCarthy, Ben Simms, Reuben Curran and Charlie Gribbons formed the band in their mum’s back gardens in Bangor, Co.Down, during the 'Great Toilet Paper Famine' of 2020 - and they have been picking up plaudits ever since. BBC Introducing and Q Radio both earmarked them as “Ones to Watch” and publications including Hotpress and the Belfast Telegraph, warned us to keep our eyes on them in 2025.

They were not wrong. As well as receiving funding from the BPI’s £1.2M Music Export Growth Scheme (the same organisation that runs the Brit Awards), they were hand‑picked to represent Northern Ireland at the UK National Day at World EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

Having recently signed to Warner Music Group for sync licensing and publishing, their music has already reached audiences far beyond the indie scene in Northern Ireland, thanks to some huge sync placements in the last 12 months. If you’re wondering where you’ve heard those infectious hooks and melodies before, then you’re probably a fan of Rugby, Football or Love Island.

Last year, UEFA chose “Part of Something” as the official song of the U19 Euros opening ceremony, after ITV Sport and the BBC used it in their coverage of the senior tournament. ITV also picked up ‘Paper Planes’, ‘Figure it Out’ and ‘Actor’ for the Guinness Six Nations Rugby coverage, in their big closing montages of Ireland and England games. Festive ballad ‘Head for Home’ was selected for a particularly steamy scene in ITV’s ‘Love Island AllStars’, exposing :Panic :Over to more than 30 million viewers in the last 12 months.

:Panic :Over are poised for bigger stages, but next week’s free party offers one last chance to hang out with them and get your merch signed, before they are constantly surrounded by burly security guards. Doors open at 7 p.m. but capacity is very limited, so arrive early to guarantee entry.

In the words of Music Magazine, NottsRocks - "Get used to the name, the colons, and the choruses—because this band isn’t just breaking out, they’re kicking the bloody doors in."
