ILLEGAL vapes and cannabis-based products, with an estimated street value totalling more than €3 million, were seized after Gardaí searched properties in Carlow and other counties on Wednesday (14 October) as part of an operation targeting an organised crime group.
Gardaí also seized €235,000 in cash, £3,000 sterling, US$3,500 and a number of high-value vehicles during the operation.
More than 100 gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and other national units searched properties in Carlow, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon and Wexford as part of the operation.
No arrests have been made, but gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
The vapes and cannabis-based products will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
The seizures form part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched in July 2021 and focused on disrupting and dismantling drug-trafficking networks and prosecuting those involved at international, national and local levels
