Eager tally men from all the candidates in this year’s general election in Laois got to work immediately when the constituency returning officer Rory Hanniffy declared the official start to the count.

Thomas (Tommy) Lawlor, Graigue, Rathdowney passed away peacefully in the loving care of staff at Fennor Care Facility, Urlingford on Friday 29 November. Thomas was predeceased by his parents Joe and Annastatia and brother Bobby.

TWO burglaries in Ballylinan yesterday evening are being investigated by gardaí. The break-ins happened in Whitethorn and The Village between 5pm and 6. 30 pm on Thursday 28 November.

Fire crews, ambulance service, and local gardaí are attending the scene of a fire at a Ballylinan home this morning. The fire broke out in an extension to a home in the Gracefield Manor estate in the centre of the village.
