A FORMER nurse from Laois who survived cancer is urging people to support Daffodil Day, in aid of the Irish Cancer Society (ICS).

Alice Delaney (née Lawlor), Derryguile, Mountmellick, Laois and formerly Riverstown, Kildangan, Co Kildare passed away peacefully on Thursday 26 February, surrounded by her loving family, at the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise.

THE theme of the 2026 St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival in Portlaoise has been revealed. The committee announced this afternoon that ‘ABHAILE’ (HOMEWARD) is the theme of this year’s celebrations in the town on Tuesday 17 March.
