A MAN alleged to have been in possession of a hatchet and a fire extinguisher during an alleged dispute was remanded on continuing bail at Portlaoise District Court last week.

A MAN accused of assaulting another man with an iron bar outside a public house in Portarlington was remanded on continuing bail when he appeared before Portlaoise District Court.

'The man was driving a car and he (the defendant) tried to get in while it was still moving.'

On speaking with the driver, a garda was informed that she was driving on a learner permit.
